Electricity company criticised over dog policy

For the past four years Tas Networks has advised its meter readers not to enter a property in the presence of any unrestrained dog.

Meter reader Lindsay Harvey said she had a device that told her whether or not a property had a dog, but it did not say if the dog was confined or not.

In the past 12 months more than one million meter readings were taken but nearly 7,000 were abandoned because of the presence of a dog.

    Tas Networks (until recently Aurora) allow some customers to self report their meter readings. Not so for solar panel owners. Home-owners seeking to minimise their electricity bills by having these panels are being discriminated against.
