Collinsville solar power plant proposal shelved

Geoff Dutton from Ratch says while the company believes renewable energy is still viable, the current policy framework does not support investment in the technology and there is no way that private enterprise could fund such a project without government support.

Plans to build Australia‘s first base-load solar power station in north Queensland have been abandoned.

More than $5 million has been spent on feasibility studies looking at converting the old coal-fired power station at Collinsville into a solar thermal station.
