Speaking at an Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) forum in Perth, Mr Court said the country could look forward to a renewed resources boom in about 10 years, when large-scale LNG projects came online and big new revenue streams were realised.
“We need to lock in arrangements now where the state - all states - get to share half that new PRRT (petroleum resources revenue tax) revenue stream on a per capita basis.
Former WA premier Richard Court has called for a fairer redistribution of mining revenue between the state and federal governments, and among individual states.
“The states must be given access to those revenue streams they need to provide services such as health and education,” Mr Court said.
