Amazon bets big on Twitch

The allure of Twitch is its live video platform, which has clocked up 15 billion minutes of content produced by over one million broadcasters, including individual gamers, pro players, publishers and developers. ““Like Twitch, we obsess over customers and like to think differently, and we look forward to learning from them and helping them move even faster to build new services for the gaming community,” Amazon founder and chief executive Jeff Bezos said.

Alan is the regular finance presenter on the ABC News and producer of the popular nightly graph (or two). Amazon. com is splashing almost a billion dollars to secure its seat in the video-streaming merry-go-round, with the acquisition of live video streaming service for gamers Twitch Interactive.
