Aust stocks expected to open higher


The Australian sharemarket looks set to open higher after solid gains on Wall Street overnight. At 6. 55am (AEST), the September share price index futures contract was up 21 points at 5,527.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 59. 54 points, or 0. 35 per cent, to 16,979. 13, while the broad-based S&P 500 gained 4. 91 points, or 0. 25 per cent, to 1,986. 51, narrowly missing a record.
