Aust stocks set to open higher

In equities news, ANZ is expected to release its third quarter trading update, James Hardie Industries is due to post first quarter results and hold its annual general meeting in Dublin, Ireland, while Automotive Holdings will release full year results.

The Australian sharemarket looks set to follow Wall Street and European markets higher after a slew of disappointing economic reports. At 6. 45am (AEST), the September share price index futures contract was up 25 points at 5,519.
