Aust stocks set to open higher

The Australian market looks set to open higher after gains on Wall Street. At 7. 07am (AEST), the September share price index futures contract was up four points at 5,604.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 75. 65 points, or 0. 44 per cent, higher at 17,076. 87 and the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index rose 18. 80 points, 0. 41 per cent, to 4,557. 35.

Mining services company Boart Longyear, the maker of Bonds underwear Pacific Brands, Westfield shopping centre empire spin-off Scentre and fertility services company Virtus Health are among those issuing earnings reports.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index dropped 10. 7 points, or 0. 19 per cent, to 5,634. 9 points.
