IBM pumps up to $100m into data centre in Victoria

IBM reportedly looked at Melbourne, Sydney and other locations for its SoftLayer data centre. “IBM and the Victorian ­government have enjoyed a longstanding and valued collaboration that has led to the IBM Ballarat Delivery Centre, the IBM Australian Research Laboratory and the Victorian Life Science Computational Initiative, to name a few,” said Victorian Technology Minister Gordon Rich-Phillips. “IBM’s latest expansion in Victoria is the latest in a recent string of new technology investments in the state since the beginning of 2014.
