Meeting makes plea for Victorian wind industry

More than 200 people tied to the fate of the wind industry met in the southwest Victorian city of Portland to make a last ditch plea to retain the Renewable Energy Target, with former Liberal leader John Hewson addressing the meeting, The Warrnambool Standard reports.

Business leaders said up to 170 jobs would go in Portland if the target was scrapped, the Standard reports, with 130 from wind tower maker Keppel Prince and 40 from electrical group R and M Menzel Electrical.
