Queensland mine workers sacked via text

Construction, Forestry, Mining, and Energy Union (CFMEU) district president Steve Pierce said since then more than 100 contractors employed by Thiess have received text messages telling them they had been made redundant to finish work by the end of next week.

Workers at a central Queensland coal mine say their employer, Thiess, told them via text that they had been made redundant, a move that has “disgusted” union officials.
