Solar Council decries Queensland power tariff change

According to the website, the Australian Solar Council said the changes will switch the electricity equation away from consumption charges, which supports solar and energy efficiency measures, with large electricity users (100MWh-plus per year) set to pay a daily $537 fee for service – a more than 10-fold increase. "It means, instead of having a small or reasonable fixed daily charge and then being exposed depending on how much electricity you use, now there's going to be much more put into the fixed charge, that will be greatest component and the amount you use will be almost meaningless," the council's John Grimes said told the ABC.
