When community submissions were included, support rose to 99 per cent, Fairfax reports. "Meanwhile, a separate Senate inquiry into the government’s plan to scrap the Australian Renewable Energy Agency found 125 of the 127 submissions in favour of retaining the body, the council said.

Citing analysis from the Clean Energy Council, the news service says of the 865 submissions 754, or 87 per cent, wanted the RET maintained or expanded, with 55 "mixed or neutral" and 56 calling for it to be abolished.
