Tech start-ups need tax breaks: report

Among those calling for a range of new measures, from a lower tax rate on start-up incomes to zero capital gains tax, are Seek co-founder Paul Bassat and Freelancer. com chief executive Matt Barrie, who have both reaped rich rewards from technology start-ups. “If you think about the future of the country, isn’t it more beneficial to have high growth businesses being created rather than an overpriced ­property market? ” Mr Barrie said, according to the AFR.
