But state Treasurer Michael O'Brien said the government had already asked the Essential Services Commission to look into the matter, and said Labor was playing catch-up. "The Labor Party was responsible for the smart metre cost blow out and they're responsible for the carbon tax," Mr O'Brien said. "If Labor wants to start naming and shaming people responsible for higher power prices, they should start with themselves," he said.
Mr Andrews says the Essential Services Commission will also get more power to crack down on power companies who break consumer laws. "No Victorian household should be wrongfully disconnected from their gas or electricity supply," he said.
