The Australian sharemarket opened lower ahead of key gross domestic product growth data, predicted to be soft, and a slump in the prices of gold and iron ore. At the 10. 15am (AEST) official market open, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index fell 8. 6 points, or 0. 16 per cent, at 5,649. 9 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 8 points, or 0. 14 per cent, at 5,648. 9 points.
