Quoting Labor Senator Sam Dastyari, the report said the Senate Economics Reference Committee inquiry would aim to “shine a light” on unscrupulous and fraudulent behaviour by financial planners working across the industry.
Senator Dastyari, who chairs the committee, said the committee could compel witnesses to appear but he hoped the bank chiefs, and other senior participants in the financial advice industry, would voluntarily appear.
